Loraine Andrews Dalton

Loraine Andrews Dalton, 98, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Aug. 5, 2024 in Birmingham, Ala. where she lived with her daughter. 

Loraine was born to Barney and Mattie McFatter Andrews on Aug. 22,1925 and grew up near Dry Creek, La. She made her profession of faith in Jesus Christ as a young girl at the age of ten at Cherry Grove Baptist Church and was baptized in Bundick Creek. After high school, Loraine moved to Lake Charles, La. where she attended Sowela Tech Business School. She worked as an accountant for Mr. Ira Dalton and in 1944, she married his son, Gordon M. Dalton. They were married for 22 years until his death in April 1966. Loraine was a member of Trinity Baptist Church for over 70 years and worked for 30 years as the financial secretary at the church until her retirement in October 1992. She enjoyed sewing and did alterations for her many friends after her retirement from bookkeeping.

She is survived by her three daughters, Margaret Dalton Walding and husband, James of Naples, Fla., Martha Dalton Faull and husband, Jim of Atlanta, Ga., and Kathryn Dalton Taylor of Birmingham,  Ala.; her brother, Robert L. Andrews of DeQuincy; three granddaughters, and six great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Melvin Dalton.

Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 10, in Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. The Rev. Randy Monroe will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Lake Charles. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday in the funeral home. The family would like to give special thanks to Southeast Hospice of Hoover, Alabama for their excellent care during Loraine’s final days.
