A body discovered Thursday afternoon near the intersection of Goodman Road and Opelousas Street was a hit-and-run victim.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kayla Vincent said the man has been identified as Larry J. Bushnell, 64, of Lake Charles.

She said during the investigation, deputies located numerous car parts at the scene and believe the suspect vehicle is a black 2016-2019 Mitsubishi Outlander.

“The suspect’s vehicle should have obvious damage to the front passenger side headlight and grill area, Vincent said. “The passenger side mirror was also damaged, and may be completely missing at this time.”

Detectives have reason to believe the suspect was traveling to the Lake Caroline Subdivision when the hit and run occurred, Vincent said.
