Due to containment loss with the Tiger Island Fire, a mandatory evacuation order has been issued for Hubert Smith and Charles Burge Road.
“We need you to vacate the areas immediately,” the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office said. “If you choose to not leave please be aware that fire retardant is going to be dropped and you should take cover.”
The Tiger Island fire has spotted over the containment line near Singer, authorities said, and ground resources are engaged.

“Two large airtankers have dropped water and two more are en route,” authorities said. “Four scooper planes are also en route. Four helicopters are on scene and dropping water.”
Dozers from the La. 113, Elizabeth and Lions Road fires are also assisting.
Elevated fire weather is expected materialize this afternoon and evening as relative humidity values drop into the upper teens to low 20s for inland locations, the National Weather Service’s Lake Charles office said.
“Wind speeds will be a bit lower than yesterday ranging from 3 to 8 mph with an occasional higher gust,” the agency reported. “Fires can spread rapidly in these conditions due to dry vegetation associated with the ongoing drought.”
Today’s highs will be in the lower- to mid-90s with lows in the 60s with the exception of the immediate coastline.
