The National Hurricane Center is continuing to monitor a weak low-pressure are in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico.

The system is expected to “meander in the Gulf”over the next few days and is marginally favorable for slow development during that time frame, the Natianl Weather Service’s Lake Charles office said.

By the weekend, the environment is expected to become unfavorable for additional development as the system drifts towards Florida. It is, however, expected to produce heavy rainfall and gusty winds over parts of the Sunshine State through Sunday.
