City of Lake Charles summer camp registration opens April 3

Beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 3, the city of Lake Charles Recreation and Parks Department will begin accepting registrations for its Summer Exploration Adventures at the Lake Charles Civic Center in the conference room located on the second floor.

The registration event will take place at the Lake Charles Civic Center daily, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., through Thursday, April 6. Beginning Monday, April 10, camp registrations will be accepted in the Recreation and Parks Department, located on the 4th floor of City Hall (326 Pujo St.), Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Summer Exploration Adventures are open to children ages 5-11 with limited space available at each site. Cost is $40 per week and lunch will be provided. Camps will be held Monday through Friday, June 5 through July 28, from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Each week, campers will embark on a new adventure with weekly themes set to include the following: Super Heroes, Louisiana’s Animal Kingdom, Aviation, Dinosaur Adventures, Exploring the Great Outdoors, STEM, Performing Arts and In Deep Water.

Site locations include Bellard Community Center (2808 Hillcrest Dr.); College Oaks Community Center (3518 Ernest St.); Henry Heights Community Center (801 East School St.); Donald Ray Stevens Community Center (1619 Cessford St.); and McMillan Community Center (343 Goos St.).

To register, bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate. This is a mandatory requirement with no exceptions. An optional T-shirt can be ordered at the time of registration. The cost is $8 per shirt.

All city of Lake Charles summer programs will be closed on Tuesday, July 4.
