An Opelousas man was charged Sunday with domestic abuse battery with child endangerment stemming from an alleged assault on his girlfriend that happened in front of a juvenile.

Michael Ray Joubert II, 29, was arrested by the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office after deputies responded to a fight at Peto’s Truck Stop just off Interstate 10 in Roanoke, according to Chief Deputy Chris Ivey.

The fight was a domestic argument between a boyfriend and girlfriend who stopped at the truck stop, Ivey said.

A witness reported seeing the male push the female down in the parking lot and pulling her hair.

Deputies also observed injuries to the victim’s face, under her right eye and scratches to her arm.

Joubert is currently out on bond for a domestic abuse battery with child endangerment, which occurred in January in Calcasieu Parish.

This was Joubert’s 11th arrest, including drug charges, possession of firearms by a felon and domestic abuse, according to information released Monday by the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office.
