A Lake Charles man was convicted Friday of rape after sexually abusing an 11-year-old girl who was a family acquaintance.

Sentencing for Braylen M. Leday, 24, has been set for April 28 before Judge Robert Wyatt.

LeDay is facing a mandatory life sentence at hard labor without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.

He was arrested on April 3, 2022, after Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s detectives responded to a rape case at a local hospital.  Spokesperson Kayla Vincent previously told the American Press that Leday confirmed to detectives he had sexual intercourse with the child.
