Herman James Berry Sr.

Herman James Berry Sr., 55, was a native of Jennings, La., and a resident of Lake Charles, La. He departed this life on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, at his residence. Herman was a member of Mt. Triumph Baptist Church in Jennings, La. for many years and later joined Traveler’s Rest Baptist Church in Lake Charles, La. under the leadership of Pastor Abbie Monroe. Herman was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, cousin, and friend.
Herman is survived by his loving wife, Mozelle Raette Stoner-Berry; his children, Travin (Ky’Asha) Thomas, Victoria McDonald, Nakia Mazeil, David Berry, Destiny Berry, Isaiah Berry, Herman Berry Jr., Courtney Vallier, Tiffany Sinegal, Lauren Griffin, Ashley Vallier, Kandace Hewitt, Ronald (Brandy) McZeal and Brandon (Jewel) Mazeil; his siblings, Doris (Grady) Woods, Samantha Nickoliason-Berry, Horace (Inez) Berry Sr., Carnell (George) Washington Jr. Howard (Elizabeth) Berry Sr., Willie (Andrea) Berry Sr., Nakia Berry Sr., Edith Berry, and Louellen Berry; his aunts, Neva (James) Jasper, Joyce Jones, Dorothy Alexander, Chris Cormier, and Linda Berry; his uncles, Herman Jones, Junius Lyons, James Jasper, Felton Berry, and Eugene Cormier; a host of grandchildren, godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Herman was preceded in death by both his parents, Horace James Berry Sr. and Nellie Lee Berry; his maternal and paternal grandparents; his daughter, Brittney LaShaye Berry.
Funeral service is Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Semien-Lewis Mortuary, 819 N. State Street in Jennings, La. The Rev.Abbie Monroe Jr., Pastor of Travelers Rest Baptist Church will officiate. Visiting with family and friends will be at the Mortuary from 9 am until the time of the funeral. Burial will be in Peterson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, La.
