Jimmie Pearl Sellers Schwalbe, 95, of Sulphur, La., passed away in the early hours of Friday, Jan. 27, 2023, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Schwalbe was born Oct. 17, 1927, in Bessemer, Ala., and has lived in the Lake Charles/Sulphur areas for over 65 years. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Sulphur, where she sang with the Aging Cajun group and enjoyed traveling with them. She also enjoyed reading, sewing and decorating. Mrs. Schwalbe will be remembered as a kind, courteous and friendly lady who always put others before herself. She loved her family dearly and was always there for them in any way possible.
Mrs. Schwalbe is survived by her son, Steven Schwalbe of Springfield, Mo.; daughters, Diana Kelly of Lake Charles and Lynette Wilson (Fredric) of Atlanta, Ga.; brother, Bill Sellers of Sulphur; sisters, Shirley Huval of Metairie, La., and Margie LaFleur (Ray) of Georgetown, Texas; grandchildren, Scott Schwalbe, Jacob Rodgers, Tamey Schwartz (Michael), Zachary Rodgers (Carrie Stell), Shawn Kelly and Jennifer Schwalbe; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Abigail, and Jacob Kelly, Logan and Garrett Schwartz, and Harley Schwalbe; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Schwalbe; son, Alan Schwalbe; parents, Jim and Minnie Sellers; and a host of siblings.
Her cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. A service to celebrate her life will be held at a later time.
The family would like to express a special word of thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Christus St. Patrick Hospital’s ICU and to Christus Hospice, especially Brandy and Nikki, for their care and compassion given.
