Additional $7.1M in Hurricane Laura money allocated to SW La.

The Federal Emergency Management Association is awarding an additional $7.1 million in federal grants for hurricane recovery efforts in Southwest Louisiana.

The funding is made available through the major disaster declaration for Hurricane Laura.

The reimbursement includes:

  • $1,610,221.78 to the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury to replace damaged road signs parishwide.
  • $2,784,548.25 to the city of Lake Charles for repairs to the Public Works Administration building.
  • $1,278,064.80 to the Airport Authority Calcasieu Parish District 1 for building replacement.
  • $1,429,379.82 to the Calcasieu Parish School Board for repairs to the J.I. Watson Elementary School.

“Parents should have peace of mind knowing the roads are safe when driving their children to school,” said U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-Louisiana. “This funding from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will allow our communities to rebuild crumbling roads to keep families safe.”
