Alvin Dwayne Soileau

Alvin Dwayne Soileau, 79, of Lake Charles, La., passed away at 6:07 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23, 2023, in a local care facility.
Mr. Soileau was born Dec. 4, 1943, in Lake Charles, La., where he was a lifelong resident and was a 1961 graduate of LaGrange High School. Throughout the years, he worked at various grocery stores, retiring as manager of Market Basket in 2007, where he dedicated fifteen years. He was a past member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. During his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and later gardening and building. He also had a great love for animals, barbeques and spending time with his family. He will always be remembered for his great sense of humor and as a gentle soul who loved his family.
Mr. Soileau is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Linda Bellard Soileau; children, Sherry Lynn Crick (Freddy) of Lake Charles, Scott Soileau (Marlo) of Lake Jackson, Texas, and Renee Primeaux (Chad) of Holmwood; sisters, Judy Fontenot of Arnaudville, Ruth Aucoin of Moss Bluff, and Debbie Duplechin (Steve) of Crowley; sister-in-law, Betty Garcille of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Adam Soileau (Maci), Stephen Box (Adele), Shelby Soileau (Jacob), Jordan Primeaux (Jenna), Colton Duplichan, and Cricket Crick; great-grandchild, Levi; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Beulah Soileau; brother-in-law, Ray Aucoin; close cousin, Butch Soileau; godchild, Monique Aucoin; nephew, James Fontenot; and beloved dog, Koko.
His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 30, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Father Levi Thompson will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a rosary at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8:30 a.m. until the start of the service.
Donations in Mr. Soileau’s memory can be made to the charity of one’s choice.
