Inaugural event celebrates area’s culinary culture

Area eateries are offering a little extra enticement to bring in diners starting Saturday.

Visit Lake Charles, in partnership with the local restaurant community launches the inaugural Chuck Eats Restaurant Week, Jan. 20-29, a celebration of the area’s culinary culture.

Restaurant promotions include specials such as fixed price menus, buy-one-get-one deals, and discounts. Generally, diners will have to ask for the  “Chuck Eats” special.

“Look for 20 percent off all bottles of wine not on our by-the-glass list,” said Ryan Kennedy, Bodega Wine Dive, South Lake Charles.

In Westlake,  at Jeanne’s Bourbon Street Barbecue, those who dine-in will get the special price of $5 for half-pulled pork nachos and $10 for half-brisket nachos, two for one on domestic draft beers, according to Jeanne Rose, owner.

Luna Bar and Grill in Downtown Lake Charles is offering a free appetizer, spinach and artichoke dip, fried pickles or fried mushrooms. Plus, daily specials will be offered during the week of Chuck Eats.

In Sulphur and Vinton, Insane Sausages owner Derek Gaspard is offering its Boudin Ball Burger Meal for $8 plus tax. It features two crushed boudin balls on a burger bun with lettuce, tomato, cheese, insanity sauce and your choice of mayo or jalapeno mayo and is served with fries and a medium-sized drink.

Other participating restaurants include 121 Bistro, Area 337, Big Daddy’s Sports Grill, Biscuits ‘n Jamz, Botsky’s Premium Hotdogs, Bourbon Street Deli, Buffi’s Peaux Boys Deli, Restaurant Calla, Chart House, Coffee:30, Cotten’s Downtown, Crust Pizza Co., Crying Eagle Brewery, DraftKings Sportsbook, Grab N Geaux, The James 710, Leonard’s Food Quarters, Mellow Mushroom, Nina P’s Cafe, The Max Restaurant at The National, The Mbar Sports Bar & Grill, The Villa Harlequin and the The Village Coffeehouse.
