Big scoring streaks lead Bucs to win over Northside

Barbe used big scoring outbursts in each half to cruise past Northside 66-48 at Burton Complex Sunday in a nondistrict game at Hamilton Christian’s MLK Classic tournament.
The Bucs scored 11 straight points in the first half to build a double-digit lead. Northside rallied to get within two points just before halftime, but Barbe regained control with an 18-2 run to build a 38-22 lead.
Northside didn’t get closer than 10 the rest of the way.
Mikaylah Manley scored the first six points of the second Barbe run and finished with a game-high 23 points. Areil Williams added 18 points and Mia Colston scored 17, including four three-pointers.
Two of Colston’s long-range shots came in Barbe’s early run.
Shanell Celestine led Northside with 18 points. Makala Thibodeaux added 10.
The MLK Classic concludes today.
