Oak Hill holds off St. Louis’ late rally

Jodie Jowers put the Oak Hill Rams (25-7) ahead for good with a short jumper with 54 seconds left as Oak Hill held off a late Saints comeback attempt to win 56-53 on Saturday at the MLK Classic.

St. Louis (17-6) trailed by as many as 10 in the third quarter and was down by nine entering the fourth before rallying back and briefly taking the lead at 51-50 on a Paris Guillory basket with 1:30 left.

An Alexis Dyer basket gave Oak Hill a one-point lead five seconds later.

St. Louis tied the game at 51 on a free throw by Ava Brinkman before Jowers scored the go-ahead basket.

The Saints took a 16-6 lead after the first quarter but  Oak Hill took command of the game with a 17-1 run to close the first half and led 31-23 at halftime.

Dyer led the Rams with 20 points. Jowers added 16.

Guillory scored a game-high 30 points for St. Louis. Brinkman added 10.
