Anna Marie Phillips, 78, of Lake Charles, La., gained her heavenly reward on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, at Christus St. Patrick Hospital and is resting in the arms of Jesus.
Anna was born April 20, 1944, in Lake Charles, La., to Joseph and Idell Leger. She grew up surrounded by her large family and was lovingly given the nickname Evonne by her father because she completed the even dozen of her siblings. She took pride in her meticulous construction painting ability and enjoyed passing on her skills to others. Even though Anna’s health was failing for years, she continued to be the rock in the lives of her children and all those around her. She was one of the longest standing members of Moss Bluff Pentecostal Church.
Continuing her memory will be her husband of 43 years, Allen Phillips Sr.; seven children, Dennis (Tammy) Cornner, Tony (Sandra) Cornner, Dianna (Bryan) Thompson, JoLynn Spears, Allen (Pam) Phillips Jr., Sally (Timothy) Ramsey, Carey (Mandy) Phillips; 51 grandchildren including greats; one sister, Lucille Leger; one sister-in-law, Yda Leger; and numerous nieces and nephews who she loved like her own.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six sisters and four brothers.
Service will be entrusted to Johnson’s Funeral Home as follows: Wednesday, Dec. 7, at the Moss Bluff Pentecostal Church with visitation from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with the funeral following at 7 p.m. Burial will be Thursday, Dec. 8, at 9 a.m. in the old Ritchie Cemetery.
