Stella Mae Bellard

Stella Mae Bellard, 93, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2022, in a Lafayette hospital.
She was a native of Church Point and had been a resident of Sulphur for over 50 years before recently moving to Lafayette. Stella was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur where she was an active member of the Catholic Daughters. She had served as a volunteer with Holly Hill Nursing Home, previously served on the board of directors for CARC, and was very instrumental in helping start the special needs program at Frasch Elementary School. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, crocheting, knitting, painting and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Retta Delano of Arizona, Rebecca “Becky” Gonzalez and husband Tony of Lafayette, John Bellard of Moss Bluff, Vernon Bellard and wife Debbie of Lake Charles, Cindy Bellard of Arizona, Christina Johnson and husband Randy of Moss Bluff, and Roy Bellard and wife Claudia of Hitchcock, Texas; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Joseph Bellard; her daughter, Angela “JoJo” Bellard; her sister, Jeanette Grisham; and her daughter-in-law, Daisy Bellard.
Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Lake Charles. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Thursday with a Rosary service at 6 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Friday in the funeral home.
