Stephany L. Fong was born March 13, 1990, in Lake Charles, La. to Terry and Suzanne Fong.
She attended Barbe High School, excelling academically and athletically. Whether she was on or off the court, her exuberant personality, fierce competitiveness and loyalty to her team shown through. She danced with Lady Leah for 12 years, played recreational softball for 13 years including tournament ball.
A devastating accident her senior year of high school brought on many challenges but taught her many things, setting the tone for her life. She never allowed anything to keep her down for long, especially following her accident, she did not hesitate to go back to work as soon as possible. She graduated class of 2008 at Barbe. She then began attending McNeese State University in the fall of 2008 while working two jobs to earn her bachelor’s degree.
Fakeer Ishavardas said
“Live boldly. Or be an oldie. Your call. As for me, well, I may have at times lived good or even badly. But never ever not boldly.”
She embodied this, nothing she did was without tenacity and grace. She was severely loyal to her friends and family but nothing surpassed the love she held for her daughter, Dani Lynn. Stephany’s red hair and green eyes merely complimented her bubbly personality, giving and kind heart. She was known to bring people out of their shell, a trait her fiancé Shelby loved her deeply for. It was hard not to laugh and enjoy life while in her presence. She also had incredible work ethic and worked many different departments at L’auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles since being recruited to work there in 2010. She absolutely “loved” her job!
As a mother, Dani was the light of her life. Together they enjoyed countless craft days, trips to the park or zoos, teaching her to fish, road trips and a wonderful Disney trip this summer, even those quick trips to DeQuincy to curb her hankering for Dairy Queen steak fingers, this was before the Lake Charles store opened of course.
She was welcomed into Heaven, Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022 by her maternal grandparents, Randal and Patti Owen; an aunt, Kim Fong; and uncle, Larry Hood.
