Frank Earl Foreman

IOWA – Frank Earl Foreman, born Jan. 12, 1920, son of the late Asa Joseph Foreman Sr., and Frances Broussard Foreman, passed away Sept. 30, 2022, at the age of 102.
Frank attended school in Lake Arthur and graduated from Iowa High School in 1937. Frank graduated from McNeese in 1948 and continued his education at SLI (University of Louisiana) where he received his Bachelor of Agriculture degree in 1950.
At 22, Frank voluntarily joined the U.S. Army as a combat medic. In 1942, he embarked for the Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operation. He served on the Islands, Guadalcanal New Georgia, Bougainville, and Luzon. Sgt. Foreman received 2 Silver Stars New Georgia and on Luzon. He also has the Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the Distinguished Unit Citation 148th Infantry Regiment.
He married the love of his life, Mary Lee Dauzat, and they celebrated 63 years of marriage. They visited 37 countries, all 50 states, and had a lease on King Mt., Colo., where they spent 2 to 4 weeks each year.
Frank was appointed Postmaster by Harry S. Truman in 1952, where he served Iowa for 27 years. He also served the Boy Scouts as Troop Master and was a volunteer firefighter and coached Little League Baseball.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Lee Dauzat Foreman; brothers, Hillard Stephen Foreman, Calvin Isaac Foreman, and Asa Joseph “Joe” Foreman; sister, Margaret Foreman Brignac
He is survived by one sister, Mary Foreman Hidalgo (Vernon); two sons, Frank Charles “Pete” Foreman, and Lester Anthony “Tony” Foreman; grandchildren, Kristy Romero Foreman, Sconnie Granger, Scott Holmes; Natasha Moreau, Sarah Fielder; great-grandchildren, Charlie and Courtney Cook, Aiden, Reed, and Bryce Granger; great great-grandchildren, Noah and Milo Cook.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held in St. Raphael Catholic Church on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Anthony Fontenot, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation will begin Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2022, in the funeral home from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a Celebration of Life at 5:30 p.m. followed by a rosary at 6 p.m. and the Cursillo rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume Wednesday in the funeral home from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
He will be carried to his final resting place by Kristy Romero Foreman, Ricky Foreman, Sconnie Granger, Jeremy Foreman, Charlie Cook, Aiden Granger, and Justin Foreman. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Raphael Catholic Church, PO Box 849, Iowa, LA 70647.
