JENNINGS — Mr. Clarence F. Talbert Jr. departed this life peacefully at the age of 72 on Monday, Sept. 19, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Clarence was the fifth of fifteen children born to the union of Clarence F. Talbert, Sr. and Elizabeth A. Talbert in Fenton, La., on Feb. 3, 1950. He attended Katie B. Thomas High School and went on to serve his community as Fire Chief of the Village of Fenton for many years. After his service in Fenton, he held various positions including working for R&R Construction and most notably becoming the first African American Constable in Jefferson Davis Parish from 2009-2014. He was proud and honored to continue his commitment to service until his health urged him to retirement. He remained a pillar in his community, always generously dedicated to helping anyone in need without hesitation; lending his time, skills, and remarkable sense of humor to anyone who called on him. He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and was exemplary in his demonstration of values and character to those around him. In his spare time, Clarence loved being outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman; loved to joke and make others laugh; and his greatest joys came from spending time with friends and family.
