Three Point Stance: Big numbers highlight Week 4 in area football

In this edition of the Three Point Stance, staff writers Rodrick Anderson and Warren Arceneaux review Week 4 of the high school football season.

Which team had the most impressive win?

WA: St. Louis Catholic pulled away from Kinder for a 45-14 win to open District 3-3A play. Quarterback James Reina threw for 183 yards, ran for 103 and accounted for four touchdowns.

RA: Basile put a halt to Elton’s undefeated start to the season and held the Indians’ high-powered offense to its lowest point total (21) of the season and total yards (292). Horace Edwards and Ashton Deaville combined for 322 yards and five TDs.

Name a small schools player of the week.

WA: Rosepine running back Grant Ducote ran for 177 yards and three TDs in a 43-6 win over Vinton. Ducote scored on runs of 5, 9 and 50 yards.

RA: Leesville sophomore standout Xavier Ford posted his third consecutive 200-plus rushing yard game in the Wampus Cats 26-0 win over Catholic-New Iberia. He had 282 yards and two second-half TDs on 30 carries and is up to 935 yards on the season.

Name a large schools player of the week.

WA: Lake Charles College Prep QB Josiah Bushnell completed all six pass attempts for 173 yards and three TDs and ran for 118 yards and two TDs to lead the Blazers to a 51-0 win over South Beauregard.

RA: In his first start at QB, senior Jace Dawson threw a pair of TD passes to Tristan Goodly to lead Westlake to a 36-13 homecoming win over DeRidder. Dawson completed 9 of 17 passes for 173 yards.
