It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Dionese Boullion Carpenter, 98, on Friday, Sept. 2, 2022, from her beloved second home, The Parsons House Assisted Living in Omaha, Neb. She had been a long-time resident of Sulphur. Dionese was born on Oct. 13, 1923. She was the second oldest of seven children born to Ovelia Veronie Boullion and Andrew Boullion Sr. in Rayne, La.
Dionese relocated to Lake Charles, La. after her marriage to the late George J. Carpenter in 1941, then in 1967 she called Sulphur, La. her forever home.
Dionese was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church where she was a Catholic Daughter for over 50 years and volunteered for most anything especially for saying the Rosary. Most times if you drove to her house she would be sitting on her porch with a Rosary in her hand and would say several Rosaries a Day. She loved reading her prayers, praying for and with others and spending time with family. She was loved by all…“to know her was to love her” and she was known to many as “Maw C”.
Dionese will be remembered most of all for her award-winning roses. She was most happy in her garden where she had a deep and uncanny ability to bring most dead plants to life, she was known to have had a green thumb, and was a long-time member of the Southwest Louisiana Rose Society. She also enjoyed sewing and cooking, visiting with friends and family, going out to eat, and especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
Dionese is survived by her four children, Georgette Trosclair (late Milford Trosclair Sr.), Sharon Dupuis (late John Dupuis), Byron Carpenter (Lisa), and Melynda Carpenter; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Duhon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dionese was preceded in death by her husband, George J. Carpenter; her grandson, Zackery Carpenter; sisters, Winnie Mier, Adley Janise, and Winnie Ola Crador; and brothers, Wilford Boullion and Andrew “AJ” Boullion Jr.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022 at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home with a Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2022 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor with the Rev. Edward Richard officiating. Burial will follow in Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Andrew Carpenter, Nathan Carpenter, Seth Carpenter, Jason Dupuis, Milford Trosclair Jr, and Martyna Hicks will stand in for her brother, late Zackery Carpenter.
