Arthur “Bubby” Fontenot Jr.

Arthur “Bubby” Fontenot Jr., age 59, a resident of Lake Charles, La., was born on July 21, 1963, and he passed away Tuesday morning, Sept. 13, 2022, 6:45 a.m. Bubby did attend several schools in Lake Charles, and he graduated from Pontiac Central High in Michigan. He is a graduate of Sowela Technical College, where he studied air conditioning and refrigeration. After joining the U.S. Air Force, he was deployed to Korea. Bubby enjoyed playing basketball, bowling, drawing, fishing, and playing chess. Bubby had a good, spirited soul and was a friend to all. He was always in the mood for a good time, always had a smile on his face, and always had a song to sing.
Bubby is survived by his wife of 36 years, Veronica Evette Vallery Fontenot; four children, Brandy Fontenot (David) Cox of Houston, Texas, LaSaundra “Monique” (Donald, Jr.) LeBlanc of Iowa, La., Krystle Fontenot of Lake Charles, La., and Katrina Fontenot of Lake Charles, La.; five grandchildren, Kamylle Jones, McKenzie Fontenot, Kennedi LeBlanc, Rayna Cox, and one on the way.
Bubby is also survived by his loving father, Arthur (Princess) Fontenot Sr.; siblings, Robin (Michael) Fontenot Esprit, Kimberly (David) Fontenot, Sonya (Carl) Fontenot Henry, Nadia (Jason Sr.) Villalba, Natisha (Demarius) Fontenot, and Eldridge (Amanda) Lafanette. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and a host of friends.
Bubby was preceded in death by his mother, Geraldine Sias Cook; his grandparents, Christoval Fontenot, Thelma (Leroy) Lafanette, and Batiste “Bot” Cook.
Bubby’s funeral service will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022, at Fondel’s Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Service to follow at 11 a.m.
