Herbert Lawrence Olivier Jr.

Herbert Lawrence Olivier Jr. was born in Lake Charles, La., on Oct. 5, 1942, and died Sept.18, 2022.
He was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles and faithful member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish. He was a 1961 graduate of Sacred Heart Catholic High School.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Shirley Sonnier Olivier; children, Jaunetta Syas, Tracy Olivier Flowers (Clifton) of Ann Arbor, Mich., Andrea Olivier Roberson (Marcus) of Fresno, Texas, and Herbert Olivier III (Wellyna) of Katy, Texas; grandchildren, Mia Brooke Cager, Kyndall Anice Flowers, Cole Olivier Flowers, Adriana Maureen Olivier, and Ava Evelyn Olivier; brother-in-law, James Fuller, Sr.; sisters-in-law include Rose Fruge, Willie Mae Williams, Rosella Semien; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Ruby Lemelle Olivier Sr.; sisters, Juanita “Connie” Colston, Mercedes Breaux and Mathilda Fuller.
He was a leader and well respected in the community. Herbert’s career in public safety began in the Air Force. As a Lake Charles police officer, he rose through the ranks and retired as Captain and was the Public Relations Officer for the department. After retiring from LCPD, he continued to work at PPG and CITGO.
The Mass of Resurrection will be on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a Cursillo Rosary at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
