Moss Bluff woman dies in Tuesday morning crash

A Moss Bluff woman has succumbed to injuries sustained in a Tuesday morning two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. 171 and Parish Road.

The crash claimed the life of 44-year-old-of Amy Carol Richard.

Louisiana State Police Trooper Sgt. Derek Senegal said a 2016 Honda CRV, driven by Richard, entered the intersection of US 171 from Parish Road. At the same time, the driver of a 1993 Chevrolet Blazer, who was traveling south, struck the Honda as she attempted to make a left turn onto US 171.

Seat belt usage on the part of Richard is unknown at this time, Senegal said.
She was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries and later died. 
The driver of the Chevrolet was properly restrained and sustained minor injuries. Toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Troop D has investigated 19 fatal crashes resulting in 21 deaths in 2022.
