Wilda Mae Hanks

Wilda Mae Hanks, 90 years old, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2022, in a local hospital. She was born on Jan. 7, 1932, to Emile and Adelaide Benoit Duhon in Morse, La.
Wilda grew up in Morse, La. She was always her Grandma’s favorite. She met her husband, Columbus at the local store where she worked. He came in every day and ordered a cherry Coke, which she lovingly prepared. She and Columbus enjoyed traveling across the country, camping and making memories. She was fun-loving and game for anything.
She will be remembered as a sweetheart who loved helping people. She was generous, kind, friendly, loyal and faithful to name a few of her gifts. She was a loving caregiver for everyone. She was a faithful member of the Catholic Church. She was well known for her cooking, especially her fried chicken. She enjoyed country music, and watching game shows.
Those left to cherish her memory are her great granddaughter, Shelly Adams (Corey), and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Columbus Hanks; her parents; her daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Patrick Biancone; her brother, Ray Reece; and her sisters, Anna Belle Bertrand, and Joyce Menard.
Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12, 2022, in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel. Msgr. Harry Greig will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 11:30 a.m. until the start of the service at 2 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 1:30 p.m.
The family would like to give special to the doctors, nurses and staff of Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care.
