A memorial service for Peggy Jo Baggett will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022 at the Trinity Baptist Church Chapel with The Rev. Steve James officiating.
Peggy Jo, 89, of Lake Charles, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, in her home surrounded by the love and comfort of her two daughters.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Rose Hall; her husband, Charles W. Baggett; and her brother, Wayne Hall.
Peggy was born in Leesville, La., in 1932. She grew up in Elizabeth, La., and her family moved to Lake Charles during her teen years. She will be remembered as a devoted wife to her late husband, a loving mother to her two daughters, and a dedicated Christian.
Peggy was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Lake Charles. Her trust in Christ as her Savior was formed as a young girl and she delighted in serving Him all her life. She used her talents to serve the Lord as a choir member in her younger adult years and later years a pianist for one of the children’s choirs at Trinity.
Peggy graduated from Lake Charles High School. She played the French horn in the LC High band. She retired as an insurance underwriter in commercial lines after 50 years.
She was an excellent seamstress for her daughters, grandchildren, and friends. Peggy leaves behind many memories woven within the fabrics she sewed for family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory include her two daughters, Pam Cantrell and Cheryl Hartman; and three granddaughters, Jennifer Manuel, Sarah Sonnier, and Stephanie Hartman.
Peggy’s wishes were to donate her remains to the State of Louisiana, Bureau of Anatomical Services at Louisiana State University. Later her ashes will be interned alongside her husband at Highland Memorial Gardens in Lake Charles.
