Joseph Jessie Strauss

On the 23rd day in July of the year 2022, Joseph Jessie Strauss departed this life at the age of 88, while in the loving care of Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland, Miss.
He was born on Oct. 18, 1933, to the late Pierre Felix Strauss and Viola Babineaux. He was retired from the City of Lake Charles Public Works in Lake Charles, La., and he also served as a faithful Deacon at the Christian Baptist Church.
He leaves to mourn his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Wilkins Strauss, originally from Lake Charles, La. He also leaves to cherish his memories, his two sons and their wives, Michael and Dinah Strauss of Houston, Texas, and Wendell and Kimberly Strauss of Clinton, Miss.; three sisters, Rita Pikes of Baton Rouge, La., Theresa Carlin, and Betty (Brother-in-Law George) Rachal, all of Lake Charles, La.; five grandchildren and spouses, Dr. Justin and Jalisa Dyer of Zachary, La., Hillary Strauss of Clinton, Miss., Gerald and Lisanne Strauss of Clermont, Fla., Jacques and Kourtney Strauss of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Megan Strauss of Houston, Texas; 12 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pierre Felix Strauss and Viola Babineaux; and three sisters, Emeldia Shepard, Alma Semien and Audrey Prejean.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022, at 9 a.m. at Christian Baptist Church North Location, 202 N. Franklin Street, Lake Charles, La. The funeral service will commence at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Combre Memorial Park under the direction of King’s Funeral Home. All attendees please wear a mask.
