$69M more in FEMA grants awarded in SW La.

Another $69 million in disaster relief for Hurricanes Laura and Ida have been granted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

U.S. Sen. John Kennedy, R-Louisiana, said of that money, the Calcasieu Parish School Board will receive $1,093,213 for repairs at Sulphur High School, $1,921,822 for repairs at LeBlanc Middle School, $1,438,724 for repairs at Sam Houston High School; and $4,123,898 for repairs at the Curriculum & Instruction Tech Center campus.

He said the city of Sulphur will also receive $2,766,901 for emergency protective measures related to Hurricane Laura.

“This $69 million will help Louisiana communities and campuses rebuild and recover from the blows that Hurricanes Laura and Ida dealt us,” Kennedy said.

U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-Louisiana, said the funding is “a massive step towards fully rebuilding our communities.”

“Louisiana communities have been hit by disaster after disaster. Many families are still recovering from Ida after almost a year,” Cassidy said.
