UPDATE: Police investigating possible homicide after body found in home

Lake Charles Police are investigating a possible homicide after the body of a man was discovered inside his 11th Street address Wednesday afternoon.
Police were called to the residence after family members of the deceased requested a wellness check, as they had not heard from him in a few days.
The connecting street between Enterprise Boulevard and Kirkman Street — as well as the home at 1118 11th St. — were taped off and blocked for several hours while officers waited for a warrant and the Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office to arrive.
Heavy police presence was sustained at the residence during this time.
Deputy Chief Franklin Fondel said the case is being treated as a homicide investigation until officers can disprove foul play as per department protocol.
The deceased man lived alone at the residence, according to neighbors.
