Thelma “Petie” Ann LaBove

Thelma Ann “Petie” LaBove, 80 years old, passed away Friday, July 29, 2022. She was born on May 15, 1942, to Wallace “Mike” and Cecile Faulk Moore in Bakersfield, Calif.
Ms. Petie was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. She served as an EEG Technician at St. Patrick’s Hospital for 38 years. After retirement from the hospital, she worked with Neurology Associates as an EEG Technician until 2020. Ms. Petie was very involved in the Lake Charles community. She was the current President of The Southwest Louisiana Genealogical Society, Inc. Genealogy research and family tree building was a joy and passion of her life. She had a great love for her family members. Ms. Petie was also involved in the Women’s Commission of Southwest Louisiana, Inc., having served on different committees through the years. She was also involved with the Red Hat Society of Lake Charles. Ms. Petie was a parishioner of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and participated in the Charismatic Renewal Movement. She will be remembered by family and friends as a caring and giving person with a servant’s heart that did a lot of good for many people in Southwest Louisiana.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Jody Robert and his spouse, Cathy Denison-Robert; grandson, Jeremy Robert and his fiancé Mandy Greer; grandson, Devin Wicke; nephew, Chad Moore; niece, Kim Moore; and other nieces and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace Ralph Moore and Cecile Faulk Moore; and her brother, Michael “Boy” Keith Moore.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2022, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, located at 4321 Lake Street, Lake Charles, La. Visitation will resume on Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m. until start of the service at 10 a.m.
Her Celebration of Life service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022, at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Bishop Sam Jacobs will serve as Celebrant, with Father Brian King and the Rev. Jody Robert serving as Officiants. Burial will follow in the Grand Lake Community Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Robert, Devin Wicke, Chad Moore, Delbert Conner, David Conner, and Todd Broussard.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to the CHRISTUS Ochsner SWLA Foundation.
