Mary “Tita” Carol Robertson

Mary “Tita” Gennuso Robertson, 72, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on Friday, July 22, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 6, 1950 in Lake Charles, La., where she graduated in 1968 from St. Charles Academy. While attending McNeese State University, she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, and she served many years as an alumnae chapter advisor. Tita graduated from McNeese with a Master’s Plus Thirty in Elementary and Academically Gifted Education. She taught for over 40 years for the Calcasieu Parish School Board and was a SPARK teacher at Dolby Elementary School. Teaching was her passion, and she was a dedicated and loving teacher.
Tita was a former member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society of women educators. She was a member of Krewe Du Lac, was Queen Katherine XII, and served many years on the Board of Directors. Tita was a member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church.
Mrs. Robertson is preceded in death by her husband, Stan Robertson; and her parents, Louis and Deanna Gennuso.
Tita is survived by two sons, Mark Robertson (Stephanie) of Lake Charles, and Dan Robertson (Jordan) of San Marcos, Texas; two brothers, Louis Gennuso Jr. (Sherry) of Keller, Texas, and Tommy Gennuso (Chuck Chewning) of Savannah, Ga.; and one sister, Nancy Authement (Eric) of Lake Charles. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Sophia Robertson, Anna Robertson, Noelle Robertson, and Anders Robertson.
The family would like to thank Lisa Franklin and her team of care givers for their compassionate care over the years, and her many St. Charles Academy, “sisters of her heart.”
Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2022, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate. Honoring her wishes, both she and her late husband, Stan, will be laid to rest together in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary being recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the start of the service at 11 a.m.
In leu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Immaculate Conception Cathedral School (ICCS) or St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
