Eurlin “E.L.“ Layne Jarrell

Eurlin Layne Jarrell (E.L.) peacefully passed away after a long battle with dementia on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at his residence. He was born on April 30, 1933, in Evans, La. After High School, he was drafted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. After the war, he worked for Cities Services (CITGO) for 38 years. His career at CITGO included several positions such as Process Unit Operator, Trainee Electrician, First-Class Electrician and Temporary Supervisor. He also planned and scheduled turnaround maintenance. In 1983, he passed the Block Master Electrician test for the City of Lake Charles, La. After retirement from CITGO, E.L. decided he wanted to share his electrical knowledge, so he became an instructor at Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and worked there until 2012.
E.L. loved his faithful dog, Dash, who stayed by his side throughout his illness. He also loved to fish, train/judge bird dogs and was an avid LSU sports fan.
Survived by his wife, Mona Sue Jarrell – Sulphur; son, Randy Jarrell (Darlene) – Sulphur; daughters, Dona Jarrell – Houston, Texas, Norma Laughlin – Garland, Texas, Linda Grubb (Scott) – Fulshear, Texas; grandchildren, Jessica Tracy, Elizabeth Moore, Dustin Jarrell, Keith Jarrell, David Jarrell, Trinity Grubb, Riley Grubb, Sydney Grubb, Christy Gonzalez, Elaina Moore; and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Jefferson Jarrell and Bessie Craft Jarrell; sister, Betty Halstead; and brother, Tommy Jay Jarrell.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home with Pastor Jeremy Blocker officiating. Burial will be held at R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery at 2 p.m. in Silsbee, Texas. The visitation will be held on Friday, July 15, from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home.
