Luther Mae Pierce

Luther Mae Pierce returned to the arms of Jesus on June 17, 2022. She was born to the union of Jake and Edna (Favors) Harper, on Saturday, April 1, 1933, in Garyville, La., the fourth of seven children. We didn’t have biological family in DeRidder, so God saw fit to bless us with the families of Deloise and Pauline Holmes and LeNoah and Izetta Bettis, later He added Virginia Coley and Family.
We will forever carry her love and legacy in our hearts; her children, Renaldo E. Pierce, San Antonio, Texas, Michelle Pierce-Bennett, DeRidder, Stephanie (Carlos) Jones, Pearland, Texas, Ernest E. (Dana) Pierce Jr., Missouri City, Texas; grandchildren, Tamara Jones, Andre (Diane) Burby, Carla (Norman) Adams, Adrienn Pierce, Randyl Kerr, Carlos (Sparkle) Jones, Amaris Pierce, Ernest Pierce III, Elias Pierce, Elise Pierce; great-grands, Deion, Aubrieon, Summer, Brooklyn, Carlos III, Greyson and Carson; godchildren, Shalika Davis Poole, Paul DeShannon Denmond, Lynn Blount-Jones, Jazmine J. Johnson; her sister, Barbara H. Sewell; sister-in-law, Margaret Harper; nieces, nephews, cousins; The Holmes, Bettis and Coley Families, mama gave care and kindness to Elinor (Niecy) Jackson for over 30 years, The Star of Bethlehem B. C. family, other relatives and many wonderful friends.
Mama was preceded in death by Daddy; our brother, Ralph; five siblings, Dorth Mae, William, Elouise, Jake Jr. and Gloria; our DeRidder family, LeNoah and Izetta Bettis Sr. and DeLoise Holmes Sr.
Her visitation will be Sunday, June 26, 2022, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with her funeral following on Monday, June 27, 2022, at 10 a.m., both at Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church located at 409 Woodrow W. Batties Drive in DeRidder, La. Pastor Keith Stevenson will officiate. Burial will be in the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville, La.
