Effie Eva Demeritt, age 97, of Sulphur, La., passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022, in the comfort of her home. Effie was born April 27, 1925, in Louisa, La.
Effie worked as a Nurses Aide for 15 years at Holly Hill Nursing Home in Sulphur. She enjoyed working in her yard, especially tending to her roses and vegetable garden.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Shirley Demeritt of Sulphur, Molly Parker of DeQuincy, and Dena Granger (Patrick) of Sulphur; her five grandchildren, Oran Parker (Michelle) of Carlyss, Emilia Granger of Sulphur, Bethany Parker of Sulphur, Rebecca Parker of Longville, and Joshua Granger (Kristi) of Sulphur; her 13 great-grandchildren, Lillian, Jonah, Ebon, Neil, Victoria, Jasper, Ivy, Emily, Zander, Oakley, Hannah, Preston, and Pierce; her two great-great-grandchildren, Kendall and Khalil.
Effie was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper Demeritt; her father, Emile Theriot; her brother, Russell Theriot; son-in-law, Randy Parker.
Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2022, in Big Woods Cemetery under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Jody Barrilleaux, Celebrant will lead service.
