Joy Faye Edwards Fuselier was welcomed into Heaven by her Papa on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 19,2022. Born Sept. 20, 1931, in Alco, La., she was the youngest of seven children born to Landry Charles and Clara (Lee) Edwards. She graduated from Simpson High School where she excelled in basketball and along with her teammates went on to win a State Championship. After moving to Lake Charles, she was briefly employed as a Telephone Operator for South Central Bell before continuing her education at Demmon School of Beauty, and working as a Cosmetologist. She later married Orese Fuselier, and together they owned and operated Fuselier’s Radio & TV Service and raised their five children. After raising her family, Joy discovered her talent for oil painting and gifted many of her family and friends with her beautiful artwork. She was an amazing cook and seamstress as well. She loved spending time with her family and being outdoors, often tending to her plants, watching the birds, and fishing. She was a faithful and long-time member of Glad Tidings Church, having proudly contributed to their building fund.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Foster Fuselier (Kathy) of Peculiar, Mo., Charles Fuselier (Patricia) of Lake Charles, La., and Marcus Fuselier (Angela) of Jonesville, La.; her daughter, Carla Fuselier of Ragley, La.; Roger Carter of League City, Texas; Randy and Allen Fuselier; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by all of her siblings; her husband, Orese Fuselier; her daughter, Rhonda Fuselier Carter; and her grandsons, Brian Fuselier and Kirk Fuselier.
Her funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel. The Rev. Carl Ducat will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and will resume on Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. until the start of the service at 1 p.m.
