Barbe’s Guidry named LSWA 5A MVP

Published 5:00 am Tuesday, June 14, 2022

Despite the Barbe baseball team missing out on a trip to the state tournament, pitching ace and star shortstop Gavin Guidry earned the Most Outstanding Player award on the Class 5A all state baseball team.

Each of the three area teams placed a player on the first team, with Sulphur’s Jake Brown and Sam Houston’s Andrew Glass joining Guidry

Barbe and Sam Houston each placed two players on the softball first team. All four players — Bucs pitcher Haile Pappion and outfielder Nyjah Fontenot; plus Sam Houston infielder Brylie Fontenot and utility player Lexi Dibbley — are repeat selections from last year.
