Amelia “Mickey Lynn” Marcantel was born July 27, 1953, and passed away May 26, 2022, at the age of 68. She was a lifelong resident of DeQuincy. Mickey graduated from DeQuincy High School in 1971 and continued her education at McNeese State University where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She taught third grade at DeQuincy Elementary where she retired after 33 years of teaching. Countless former students have commented Mrs. Marcantel was their favorite teacher and shared what an impact she made in their lives. She was a member of the DeQuincy Federated Service League and working the Railroad Festival was the highlight of her service. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of DeQuincy where she taught Sunday School for several years. Her love for shopping was never ending, especially Christmas which she prepared for year round. If you ever needed a last minute gift, all you had to do was shop her closet. She enjoyed life, especially laughing with her friends and family. Her deepest love and her greatest joy was always for her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Kace Marcantel and wife Sarah of Longville, Kili Reeves and husband Greg of DeQuincy; six grandchildren, Reci and Kinlee Reeves; Jacob, Alex, Ty and Jack Marcantel; brother, Dr. Gerald “Bubba” Abdalla Jr. and wife Karlyn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald Abdalla Sr. and Cleo Abdalla.
