Clyde Hantz Jr., 88, of Lake Charles, passed away in a Lafayette Hospital on Saturday, May 21, 2022, following an extended illness.
Clyde was born in Orange, Texas, and went to elementary school in Sulphur and graduated from LaGrange High School in Lake Charles. He furthered his education at McNeese State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. Along with his father, he founded Hantz and Son Concrete in 1948, a family business still owned and operated by his family and son, Jonathan.
A devout Catholic, Clyde was one of the pioneers of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, where he served as lay minister and volunteered for Regina Caeli and OLQH School. He also worked with and was the past president of the St. Vincent De Paul Society. In the KAOK community he was known as ”Maintenance” always helping those in need.
Preceding Clyde in death are his beloved wife, Mary Cormier Hantz; parents, Clyde (Sr.) and Agnes LeDoux Hantz; and sister, Beatrice “Bea” Babineaux. He leaves to honor and cherish his memories, his son, Jonathan Hantz (Pamela), Ragley; daughter, Mina Hantz, Moss Bluff; grandchildren, Skyler Hantz (Josephine), Monet Broussard (Daniel), Kaitlyn Richard (Tyler), Josh Hantz (Catherine), Amanda Munoz (Jose); as well and numerous friends and family of the heart.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday May 24, 2022, at Johnson Funeral Home. A scripture service will be at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday May 25, 2022, at the Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial will be observed at 12 p.m. with Monsignor James Gaddy serving as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Consolata Cemetery.
