December 23, 1950 – May 12, 2022
Michael Swire, 71, of Carlyss, La. passed away May 12, 2022, at Houston Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas.
Michael was born Dec. 23, 1950, to Clarence J. Swire and Dorothy Mae Chasson Harrington. He was a 1970 graduate of Sulphur High School.
In 1982, Mike got a job with Brown and Root where he worked until 1988. In 1988, he began working for Continental Airlines where he was an Environmentalist.
In 1995, he began working for the Montgomery County school district and remained there until he retired in 2015. Upon his retirement, he became a “leisure specialist” as he called it. He even had business cards made.
About four years ago, he moved back to Sulphur so he could focus on spending more time with his family. During this time back home, he was able to spend more time with his daughters, granddaughter, grand son and three great- grandsons that he adored so much. He was able to reconnect with old friends and make new ones. He enjoyed road trips, car shows and spending time eating meals with family and friends at Hollier’s and a few of his other favorite places. Food always seemed to be involved when we spent time together.
Michael is survived by his daughters, Michelle Nicole Greenlee (Tommy), Tisha Dionne Barnes (Bryan); two stepsons, Kevin David Barton and Daniel Scott Barton; his sisters, Susan Durrett, Sarah Cormier (Rocky); two grandchildren, Hayden Barnes (Catherine), Noelle Barnes Dillehay (Taylor); three great-grandchildren, Eli Scott Dillehay, Easton Wayde Dillehay and Everest Michael Dillehay; nephew, Rusty Terro (Desiree); niece, Courtney Fuselier (Mike); and his special friend, Hope Hebert.
He is preceded in death by his parents Clarence J. Swire, Dorothy Mae Chasson Harrington; his wife of 39 years, Janice Marie Odom Swire; his brother Leroy Swire; his brother-in-law JD Durrett and his best friend and cousin Ronnie Swire.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 18, 2022. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery in Sulphur, La.
