Bane H. Cook

Bane H. Cook was born on Aug. 5, 1925, in Grand Tower, Ill., and went to his Heavenly Home on April 16, 2022.
He was an active and faithful servant as a member of North Monroe Baptist Church were he enjoyed the fellowship of the Sandifer Life Group. Previously Bane was a member at First Baptist Church of Lake Charles for 34 years were he served as an usher, Sunday School, Training Union and Royal Ambassador teacher. Other leadership roles were Boy Scout Leader and Mid City Little League Coach; coaching his three sons. As a family man he enjoyed traveling the USA and spending four weeks of each summer camping.
Bane was very involved in the Credit Union movement managing The Cit Con Credit Union, serving on The Louisiana Credit Union Board and The National Credit Union Board. He also was an insurance agent for Cumis Insurance.
He was a World War II Navy veteran and a 1957 graduate of McNeese State. He retired from Cities Service Lube Plant after 36 years of employment as supervisor of instrumentation.
Bane was preceded in death by his parents, George E. And Clara Roberts Cook; wife, Edith Edwards Cook; granddaughter, Carole Cook; brother, Leon Cook (Margaret).
He is survived by his loving family; wife, Gay Cook; children, George Cook (Ann), Drs. Charles Cook (Jeannine), Lisa Simpson (Jamie), Randy Cook (Ronda), Teresa Kirton (Bobby), and Lana Sims (Mark); grandchildren, Bobby Cook (Ashley), Bane Cook (Debra), Reed Cook, Meredith Cook, Andrew Simpson, Amanda Simpson, Aaron Simpson, Caroline Cook, Morgan Cook, Lauren Petrumin (Zhenya), Lindsay Cortez (Richard), Easton Sims and Sterling Sims; great-grandchildren, Sullivan, Finley, Rhett and Mila; his niece, Jysele Jones (David); and cousin, Barbara Adams.
A graveside service will be held at the Consolata Mausoleum in Lake Charles, La., on Saturday, May 21, at 2 p.m. Visitation will be before service from 1-2 p.m. Please join us to honor the life of Bane Cook.
