On Tuesday, May 10, 2022, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Wayne Fails, was called home by His Lord. He was born on July 27, 1933, in Beaumont, Texas, to George Thomas Fails and Mittie Grace Vick Fails.
Wayne retired from Gulf States Utilities after 36 years of employment as a Communications Foreman. He also was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War and served on the USS Henrico. He was a member of Sale Street Baptist Church for over 50 years where he taught the 5th grade Sunday School class for 25 years with his wonderful friend, Sue Way. He was also the project manager at Sale Street for multiple building projects. In the last few years, they were members of Trinity Baptist Church where they loved their EMMA Sunday School class. He was a man who loved his family, and He loved His Lord. He had a kind, compassionate heart and was willing to help many who were in need.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife Bonnie, to whom he was completely devoted for 64 years; son Jeff (Cyndi) of Lake Charles; daughter, Lynn (Skip) of Lake Charles; son, David (Suzanne) of Sugar Land, Texas; and grandson, Andrew (Stacey) of Georgetown, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, George Thomas and mother, Mittie Grace; his two young sisters, Wanda and Marie; and his infant twin brother, George.
A private family graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2022, in Highland Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. The Rev. Randy Monroe and Dr. J. P. Miles will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
