Leola Guillory

Leola Guillory, 102 years old, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2022. She was born on Sept. 15, 1919, to Elton and Aza Fontenot Ardoin in Ville Platte, La.
Leola grew up in Vidrine, La. She graduated from Evangeline High School where she played tennis. She was a Pink Lady at St. Patrick Hospital for 10 years. She was at her best when she was taking care of her home and family. Leola was a devout Catholic, very proud of her faith. She and Ewell received a Papal Blessing from Saint Pope John Paul II to honor 78 years of marriage. A true southern belle, and always a lady, she was a kind, gentle and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who adored her family. And how she could cook!
Those left to cherish her memory are, her daughter, Judith “Judy” Carpenter; her granddaughters, Melanie Arceneaux (Chuck), Kippy Greicar (Kipp) and Christy Dailey (Glenn); her great-grandchildren, Chance (Blair), Taylor (Ashlie), Alexis (Tyler), Grant, Sydnie and Ryan; and her great-great-grandchildren, Cohen and Charlie.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 78 years, Ewell Harrison Guillory; her son, Jerry Guillory; and her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Msgr. Harry Greig will serve as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home, located at 4321 Lake St., Lake Charles, La., from 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 11:30 a.m.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to her nurses, Connie, Noel and Grey, also the entire staff of Harbor Hospice, including Lili, Mel, Audrey, and especially Jeff who was with her until the end.
