Charlotte  Blessing

Charlotte Ann Leger Blessing, 78, of Lake Charles, La., passed away on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022.

Mrs. Blessing was born March 19, 1943 in Crowley, La., but was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles, La., where she graduated from LaGrange High School.  During her younger years, she worked as a nurse’s aide at Rosewood Nursing Home and as a private sitter, until she began her family.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who also loved to cook.  She was always very giving of herself and always put others before her.  Mrs. Blessing attended St. Margaret Catholic Church.

Mrs. Blessing is survived by her daughter, Pam Willis and husband Brian of Lake Charles; son, Jody Blessing and wife Kara also of Lake Charles; sister, Belinda Washburn-McPherson and husband Bill McPherson of Abbeville, La.; eight grandchildren, Josh Willis and wife Donna, Jordan Willis and wife Taylor, Chastity Tarpley and husband Josh, Coby Blessing, Shane Blessing, Amberly Carbaugh and husband Clint, Justin Gary and wife Erin, and Taylor Forest and husband Austin; 16 great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Gabby, Hayden, Haylie, Maycie, Chandler, Cohen, Conner, Eli, Mila, Maddox, Brantley, Skyley, Leila, Clinton Jr., and Phoenix; nieces, Tiffany Blackmon, Tammie Spell, and Kristel Deese and husband Aaron; and numerous other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Larry Blessing; parents, George and Jean Leger.

Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 28, 2022 at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff.  Brother Kevin Willis will officiate.  Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a rosary at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the start of the service.

Pallbearers for the service will be Josh Willis, Hayden Hightower, Jordan Willis, Chandler Willis, Josh Tarpley, Conner O’Neal, and Aaron Deese.

The family would like to express a special word of thanks to the staff at Allen Oaks Nursing and Rehab in Oakdale and to Brighton Bridge Hospice for the excellent care given.
