The Calcasieu Parish School Board will host a preservice training and behind-the-wheel training for substitute school bus drivers beginning next week.

School bus drivers play a critical role in the success of students, and they have a tremendous impact each and every day, said spokesperson Holly Holland.

This course is an important step in becoming a driver in the district, as it is required by both the Louisiana Department of Education and the School Board policy for all who want to become a certified Louisiana substitute school bus driver.
