The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting of a female early Monday in Elton.

The shooting occurred around midnight on Second Street as the woman was returning home, according to information released by the Sheriff’s Office.

The victim, who has not been identified, was shot twice at her residence. She was transported to a Lafayette hospital where she is expected to recover, officials said.
