Ira  B. Vinson

Ira B. Vinson, 68, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022, in Amarillo, Texas, following a sudden illness.

Born to Odell Lee Vinson and Mildred Augusta Neal Vinson in Port Sulphur, La., Mr. Vinson was reared in Lake Charles and was a 1971 graduate of Lake Charles High School. He and his family moved to El Lago, Texas, in 2000, where he opened his company, E-FLOC, a waste-water reclamation company, which he operated from 1997 to the present. He was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in El Lago and was an A.C.T.S. brother. He loved to dive, fish, hunt and golf – all reflecting his Southwest Louisiana heritage.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years, Julia Louviere Vinson of El Lago, Texas; two children, Lacy Elizabeth Vinson, also of El Lago, Texas, and Jon Alexander “Alex” Vinson, of Lake Charles; two grandchildren, Knox Coffman and Kallie Vinson; two brothers, Don Vinson and wife Lois of Burksville, Texas, and Kirby Vinson of Lake Charles; and one sister, Cici Bullock and husband Henry of West Monroe, La. Mr. Vinson was preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022 at St. Margaret Catholic Church, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Father Whitney Miller will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 15 from 9 until 11:30 a.m. at University Baptist Church, with a rosary to be recited at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Consolata Cemetery.
