Billie  Jean  Wilkins Dumas

Billie Jean Wilkins Dumas, 94, of Westlake, La., passed away peacefully on Jan. 10, 2022 in a local care facility. She was born on Sept. 27, 1927 in Pauls Valley, Okla. to Jeff Richard and Grace Ola Thornton Wilkins.

Billie grew up in Vernon, Texas. She moved to Lake Charles in the 40’s. She worked at Caraway’s Pharmacy in Westlake for over 50 years. She was an avid golfer, and McNeese sports fan. She enjoyed growing pineapples and feeding her birds.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Paul “Butch” Greenslade (Joyce) of Westlake, La., Michael Greenslade (Vicki) of Richardson, Texas, Theresa Billups (Allen), Linda Hathaway (Mickey), and Tammy LeBlanc (Gareth), all of Lake Charles, La.; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Roland Paul Dumas; her parents; and four siblings.

Her funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022 at University Baptist Church, located at 4505 Lake Street, Lake Charles, La. Father Trey Ange will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday morning from 11 a.m. until the start of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the McNeese State University football program.
