Melba Joy Perego McMahon, 92, of Pontotoc, Miss., passed from this life on Monday, Jan. 3, 2022.

Melba Joy Perego was born May 7, 1929 to Clarence and Ida Perego. She was the fourth of six children. She was a homemaker and an excellent seamstress who sewed for the public for many years and later made quilts that she sold or gave as gifts to others. She was a longtime member of the Bon Wier UPC.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Beverly Tucker and Joe of Pontotoc, Miss., Grace Johnson of Oxford, Miss.; sons, Tommy McMahon and Debbie, James McMahon and Linda of Evans, La., Roy McMahon of Newton, Texas, Arthur McMahon and Donita of DeRidder, La.; sisters-in-law, Margaret Jarrell, Janell Henderson of Evans, La.; 27 grandchildren, 72 great grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy McMahon; parents, Clarence and Ida Perego; daughter, Sandra McMahon; son, Robert McMahon; great-great granddaughter, Natalie Thomas; great-grandson, Brian Weeden; granddaughter, Cheyenne McMahon; sisters, Helen McClung, Josie Smith; brothers, Winfred Perego, Norris Perego, Jesse Perego; sons-in-law, Hollis Butler, Randy Johnson; brother-in-law, Harold McClung.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Burr Ferry Pentecostal Church in Burr Ferry, La. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 10, 2022, also at Burr Ferry Pentecostal Church. Brother Glenn Burks will officiate the service. Speakers will be Brother Roger Herrington and Brother Damon McGee. Pallbearers will be Joseph Tucker, John McMahon, Jarod McMahon, Todd Johnson, Heath McMahon, Josh McMahon. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wayne Butler, Roy McMahon III, Tom McMahon, Jay McMahon, Jason McMahon, Zach McMahon, Brannon McMahon. Burial will follow at McMahon Cemetery in Evans, La.

Services are under the direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, La.
