Unseasonably warm and humid conditions will persist in Southwest Louisiana for the rest of the year, followed by a chilly few days to start off 2022.

Chanelle Stigger, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Lake Charles office, said the warm weather will come to a temporary end as a New Year’s cold front sweeps through the area.

Temperatures could drop to as low as 39 on Sunday, 29 on Monday and 31 on Tuesday before slowly creeping up to the mid-50s on Wednesday.
