Cardone to stay on state board

BATON ROUGE — John E. Cardone Jr. of Lake Charles has been reappointed to the State Board of Architectural Examiners by Gov. John Bel Edwards.

The board is responsible for granting licenses and regulating the practice of architecture in the state of Louisiana.

Cardone is the city administrator for Lake Charles.

He will serve as a citizen of the United States who is not actively engaged in or retired from the professions of architecture, engineering, interior design, or landscape architecture, or the occupation of a contractor, or the design or construction of buildings.

Chatoney named to state board

BATON ROUGE — Walter Dwayne Chatoney of Lake Charles has been appointed to the Board of River Pilot Commissioners and Examiners (Calcasieu).

The board of River Port Pilot Commissioners and Examiners (Calcasieu) serves to establish rules and regulations for the purpose of regulating pilots, pilot associations, masters, and owners of vessels on the navigable waters of the state of Louisiana.

Chatoney is an intelligence agent for Informa LTD. He will serve as a businessman.

Fastabend joins LC law firm

Attorney Catherine Fastabend has joined the law firm of Robichaux, Mize, Wadsack, Richardson & Watson.

Fastabend was born and raised in Lake Charles, where she attended Immaculate Conception Cathedral School and St. Louis Catholic High School.

In 2016, she earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree from Louisiana State University in psychology, with a minor in sociology.

She graduated Cum Laude from Southern University Law Center with her Juris Doctorate in 2019.

She is licensed to practice in Louisiana State Courts and the United Stated District Court for the Western District of Louisiana.

Heart Center   recognized

The American College of Cardiology has recognized the John and Sylvia Stelly Regional Heart Center at Christus Ochsner St. Patrick Hospital for its demonstrated commitment to comprehensive, high-quality culture and cardiovascular care.

The John and Sylvia Stelly Regional Heart Center is the only center in Southwest Louisiana to receive the HeartCARE Center National Distinction of Excellence. The designation is awarded annually based on meeting ACC accreditation criteria, and through ongoing performance registry reporting.

Hospitals and health systems that have earned an ACC HeartCARE Center designation have met a set of criteria, including participating in at least two ACC Accreditation Services programs, NCDR registries and targeted quality improvement campaigns, such as Patient Navigator Program: Focus MI, that are designed to help hospitals and institutions close gaps in guideline-based care.

West Cal Chamber honors Desselle

The West Calcasieu Chamber of Commerce presented one of several 2021 Award of Excellence to CSE Federal Credit Union’s Director of Marketing and Business Development Colleen Desselle at its 71st annual banquet.

Desselle serves as a board member on the West Calcasieu Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Her three-year service and leadership helped the organization achieve fundraising goals, host its first inaugural event Chamber Fest and so much more.

Stanley accepted into program

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Taylor Beard Stanley, senior sales manager at Visit Lake Charles, was accepted into the inaugural year of the U.S. Travel Emerging Travel Leaders program for 2022.

A graduate of Grand Lake High School and McNeese State University, Stanley began her career at Visit Lake Charles in October 2016 as sales manager. After being promoted to senior sales manager in March 2018, she aligned her vision on how Visit Lake Charles could provide added value and educational opportunities to hotel partners. She has developed and launched Destination SWLA to educate hotel partners’ front-line and management on the role of Visit Lake Charles and how to strengthen our relationship and create a better experience for visitors.

Among her many accomplishments, she worked to secure the 18th CWC World LNG & Gas Series: Americas Summit & Exhibition for the Lake Charles area.

Additionally, she has developed the Meeting Incentive Program to increase association and corporate meetings, which has had an economic impact of nearly $7 million dollars.

She serves on the board of the Louisiana Society of Association Executives and is a graduate of the Louisiana Tourism Leadership Academy and Leadership SWLA.

Stanley was also awarded the Louisiana Travel Association’s Rising Star Award and named one of Destinations International’s 2020 30 Under 30 recipients.
